About the Event

On Saturday, May 7 at 10 a.m, the Cortland County Historical Society and the Cortland Free Library present Fired Up, a program about fire trucks and firefighting and their history in Cortland County. We’ll read books like Firehouse! by Mark Teague and Fire Engine No. 9 by Mike Austin. Our special guest is Derek Reynolds, a firefighter from the Cortland Fire Department, who will bring some equipment over from the station and talk about his work. CCHS’s TIME TRAVEL program features free monthly read-alouds and activities to engage young readers in a greater understanding and appreciation of local and American history. TIME TRAVEL takes place on the first Saturday of every month from 10-11 a.m. at the Cortland Free Library. The program is geared to ages 4-8 but all families are welcome. For more information, contact CCHS at (607) 756-6071. To sign up, call the library at (607) 753-1043. Registration is required.
