Toolkit

As the Downtown Revitalization Initiative begins, the City of Cortland in partnership with the Cortland County Business Development Association, the Cortland Area Chamber of Commerce and the Cortland County Convention & Visitors Bureau has developed a toolkit for community use.

The toolkit is designed to provide resources for businesses so that collectively we can use one consistent message to help communicate that Main Street and the City of Cortland is OPEN FOR BUSINESS while providing information to both community members and travelers. Please use these materials as you communicate with customers and promote your business.

Download and print this flyer to help direct your customers to the latest information on the City of Cortland Revitalization Project, the current traffic patterns, parking, downtown events etc. The QR will take people to www.crowncityrising.com for access to this information. Hard copies are also available at the Cortland County Visitors Center, located at 42 Main Street.

If you would like a hard copy of the flyer or a window cling, please reach out to Experience Cortland at (607) 753-8463 or email michelle@experiencecortland.com to arrange for pick up.

Share important information with your customers using the Crown City Rising message. The following digital package includes website and email, and social media graphics (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).

Hashtag: #CrownCityRising

Download the Crown City Rising Logo to add to your own images and marketing materials.

Social Media

Participating organizations will be using the message of Crown City Rising alongside #CrownCityRising throughout the revitalization project and Main Street construction in their social media plan to maintain a consistent message. If everyone uses this hashtag, we can search it to share your posts, and if we are all using the same message then everyone will know what “Crown City Rising” means.

Here are some creative social media ideas to incentivize customers to visit your business during the construction project:

  • Live or pre-recorded videos

  • Instagram Reels

  • Show off new products

  • Highlight something unique to your business

  • Specials, sales, discounts on food, shopping, lodging, etc.

  • Highlight your staff and their stories

  • Have customers share pictures or videos about their recent purchases using the hashtag #CrownCityRising

  • Download and use these #CrownCityRising social graphics
