MAIN STREET
Week of April 28
Crews will continue removing defective sidewalk on the east side of Main Street between 87–101 Main. Parking in this area will be restricted, but temporary access to impacted businesses will be maintained. Concrete pouring is expected later in the week.

On Court Street, crews will continue restoration work and pouring new concrete on the north side. Parking will be restricted, but access to properties will remain available.

FURTHER DETAILS ABOUT CURRENT PROJECT
Contractors associated with the Main Street infrastructure project will be working to repair sanitary sewer lines. Over the last few months, the City of Cortland has documented deficiencies with various aspects of the Main Street infrastructure improvement work. As a result, the contractors will be excavating specific sewer lines and making the required repairs. Once the sewer work is complete, the contractors will also be replacing various sidewalks that do not meet project expectations.
The City of Cortland recognizes the inconvenience and the disappointment that this short-term setback will cause to business owners, employees, patrons, and visitors to our downtown. The City and the contractor both share this disappointment, but this project is too important to our community not to make every effort to get it right.
The contractors have pledged to work as quickly as possible to make the needed repairs and to finish the Main Street renovation.
The City will provide regular updates on street closures and parking impacts at www.crowncityrising.com and on Facebook @CrownCityRising. For questions, comments, or concerns, please contact Eric Mulvihill, City of Cortland Special Projects Manager, at 607-749-7604.

GROTON AVE
Week of April 28
Crews transitioned the traffic lights from flashing red to fully functioning signals. The pedestrian signals at the Homer Ave, Groton Ave and Pleasant St intersection are not operational yet.

Unlike the old traffic signals on a continuous timed loop these new energy-efficient signals are triggered by the presence of vehicles and pedestrians which is expected to shorten idling times at these intersections thereby improving traffic flow, improving pedestrian safety, and reducing carbon footprint.
Crews plan to resume work in late April, weather permitting, to complete top course asphalt paving, signage installation, final striping, colored crosswalks, and full restoration. This work is expected to be finished by the end of May, or sooner if the weather allows.

Please note, all detours and construction activity is subject to weather and other related variables.

CITY OF CORTLAND
Week of April 28
CURRENT PROJECT
Summit St – Began March 26 – Est. Duration 4-5 Weeks
Most of the gas main will be installed off-road behind the curb. Drivers can expect occasional single-lane closures with flaggers, but the road will remain open to all through traffic. Gas main installation is expected to continue through April 4.
All gas services within the project area will be transferred to the new gas main beginning the week of April 7. Residents received notification letters two weeks before the project started. Temporary soil stabilization will occur immediately after each phase of work, with permanent restoration—including topsoil, seed, asphalt, and any necessary sidewalk replacement—completed at the end of the project.
Please note, there is no city sidewalk on Summit Street.

Lauder St – Plan Start March 19th – COMPLETE
NYSEG crews finished the gas main installation on Lauder Street. Permanent restoration—including topsoil placement, seed application—will begin the week of April 14. Hard surface replacement where asphalt or sidewalk was removed will begin when the asphalt plant opens (weather permitting).

Pendleton St (Clinton Ave – Elm St) & Elm St (Pendleton St - #56 Elm) – Plan Start May (Date TBD) – Est. Duration 7-8 Weeks
Most of the work will take place off-road behind the curb. The road will remain open to all through traffic for the majority of the project, though intermittent single-lane closures with flaggers may occur as needed. Short-term (1-2 hour) full closures will be required during gas main road crossings at Pendleton & Garfield and near #56 Elm; DDS will notify the City 1-2 days in advance so the public and emergency services can be informed.
All gas services within the project area will be transferred to the new gas main. Residents received notification letters two weeks before the project start. Temporary soil stabilization will be done immediately after each phase, with permanent restoration—including topsoil, seed, asphalt, and limited sidewalk replacement—taking place after all work is complete.

Please note, all detours and construction activity is subject to weather and other related variables.
